Boys & Girls Club Work Study-Front Desk Assistant

Title:  Front Desk Assistant
Purpose of Student's Job:  To create a welcoming and positive environment when members arrive at the Club.
Supervisor:  Brent Stull
Hours:  15-20 hours per week
Rate of Pay:  $7.25 per week


Description of Duties:
  • Welcome members by name as they enter the Club
  • Answer phones
  • Engage with visitors as they enter the building
  • Register new members
  • Assist in some light clerical duties
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and positive environment

Qualifications:
  • Education:  Some college
  • Experience:  Experience working with youth is preferred
  • Skills:  Professionalism, attention to detail, strong communication skills, group leadership skills (group dynamics), ability to supervise and motivate youth, and ability to deal positively with members during misbehavior
  • Physical and Mental Requirements:  Pre-employment drug screen, criminal and professional background check, ability to actively engage with members while sitting, standing, and at play, ability to remember and call members by name, and ability to maintain emotional control under stress

Purpose of Student's Job:  To create welcoming and safe programs for members of the Club.
Hours:  15-20 hours per week
Rate of Pay:  $7.25 per hour


Description of Duties:
  • Engage positively with members
  • Provide fun, interactive programs which provide opportunities for high yield learning
  • Provide fun, interactive, and on-going experiences for members.  Examples include:
    • Leading a variety of sports and physical recreation activities
    • Teaching members skills using digital technology
    • Teaching members cooperative play in billiards, table tennis, etc.

Qualifications:
  • Education:  Some college
  • Experience:  Experience working with youth is preferred
  • Skills:  Professionalism and attention to detail, strong communication skills required, group leadership skills (understand group dynamics), ability to supervise and motivate youth, and ability to deal positively with members during misbehavior

Boys & Girls Club Work Study - Kitchen Assistant


Title:  Kitchen Assistant
Purpose of Student's Job:  To ensure all members receive healthy, nutritious meals                                           
Supervisor:  Brent Stull
Hours:  15-20 hours per week
Rate of Pay:  $7.25 per hour


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Pick-up, serve, and clean-up prepared meals
  • Ensure compliance of health & safety requirements
  • Completion of daily meal reports
  • Prepare meals as needed for up to 100 youth
  • Ensure safe & orderly meal distribution
  • Educate members on healthy eating, nutrition & cooking

Qualifications

  • Education:  Some College
  • Experience:  Experience working with youth and/or kitchen experience preferred
  • Skills:   Professionalism & attention to detail, ability to keep a sanitary kitchen & prepare group meals, ability to supervise and motivate youth, and ability to deal positively with members during misbehavior
  • Physical and Mental Requirements:  Pre-employment drug screen, criminal & professional background check required, ability to regularly lift 20 lbs., ability to drive BGCP Vehicle, and ability to maintain emotional control under stress

Testing Center Work Study


Department/Divsion:  Testing Center
Purpose of Student's Job:  Assist office staff with routine tasks
Supervisor:  Tim Beardsley
Hours:  15-20 per week
Rate of pay:  $ 7.25 per hour


Description of Duties: 
  • Assisting with testing and registration events
  • Answering telephone calls
  • Scheduling appointments for placement testing
  • Assisting with set up of computers in testing lab
  • Filing
  • Helping complete projects
  • Making copies
  • Assisting students who will call or walk into the office
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Good organizational skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Professional demeanor
  • Good communication skills

Preferred Time to Perform Job:  Mornings and/or afternoons 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Hours: 15-20 hours per week
Rate of Pay:  $7.25 per hour

Description of Duties:   
  • Engage positively with members
  • Help members complete homework or tutoring in academic subjects
  • Employ multiple reading intervention techniques to increase reading fluency & comprehension
  • Provide fun, interactive programs which provide opportunities for high yield learning

Qualifications
  • Education:  Education 100+ students preferred
  • Experience:  Experience working with youth in an educational setting preferred
  • Skills:  Professionalism, strong communication skills required, group leadership skills (including an understanding of group dynamics), ability to tutor, supervise and motivate youth, and ability to deal positively with members during misbehavior
  • Physical and Mental Requirements:  Pre-employment drug screen, criminal & professional background check required, ability to actively engage with members while sitting, standing, and at play, and ability to maintain emotional control under stress

    Business Office/Purchasing Work Study

    Department/Divsion:  Business Office/Purchasing
    Purpose of Student's Job:  Provide assistance to the Business Office and Purchasing Department
    Supervisor:  Jeannine Ratliffe
    Hours:  15-20 hours per week
    Rate of pay:  $ 7.25 per hour

    Description of Duties
    • Basic office duties - filing, copying/faxing, answering phones, run errands, shredding papers, basic customer service
    • Microsoft Office skills – EXCEL, create flow charts, etc.
    • Assist with purchasing deliveries when needed
    • Maintain key performance indicators as established by the CPO (Chief Purchasing Officer)
    • Create purchasing training presentations under supervision of the CPO
    • Assist/observe business processes and problem solving
    • Other duties as assigned by the Controller or CFO (Chief Financial Officer)

    • Good communication skills

    Preferred Time to Perform Job:  Mornings and/or afternoons between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
